CONNECT LEARNING TO CAREER DEVELOPMENT

How you connect learning to your leadership career in this day and age is an ever-expanding scope since the world is literally moving and changing on a very fast pace. If there has ever been any generation that has experienced such a massive level of dynamism; I think it is this generation. But some people are so backward that it will take an extreme amount of work and effort to help them catch up with their fellow career counterpart. For reasons that they ain't learning and making research to actually keep up with all the recent technological trends in their fields.
You need more ways to diversify your learning since the focuses of it are ever-expanding.

1. Be more flexible to knowledge and information especially those areas related to your career or chosen field of interest.

2. Become more concern about learning something new every day.
I think there should come a time in your career when you really have to be ready for a shift in paradigm. Until you mature to that level; you ain't ready to develop yet. If your company or workspace is not giving you the needed opportunity, you have to do that for yourself so you don't get stumped at the end of the day.

To survive in your career, there has to be a continuous learning process fashioned into your workspace all the time so you can keep up with the game of your career.

Do all the learning you can, both electronically and manually. This will really drive us into my next point.

3: Have a growth mindset and if you don't; you can create it by giving kudos to your process more than the result.
In 2007, Newyork times recognize that when it comes to Careers; Change is the only constant.

4: Change your  Mentoring definitions.

I love the definition given by one researcher that says "Mentoring is what you do to yourself with the help of other people".  It all still boils down to how you discipline yourself since self-discipline is regarded as one of the greatest components of true Leadership that anyone should uphold.

The traditional methods of mentoring are still very much OK but for the purpose of this write-up, I would encourage you to focus your mind in more modern ways that are more diversified to fit into the current status quo.

When going through personal mentoring like this, you should consider things like:
What class of people do I address every day? Do they fall within the Millenials, Baby boomers or Post Millenials?

Just in case you fall into the category of Millenials just like me, I think you will be forced to drift further towards the more optional category of learning than just the usual traditional ways.

 So we have different types of modern mentoring that might not be expanded on in this post as clearly outlined by 'Insala company' base on research. This includes;

A. Flash mentoring (Getting outside perspective about a particular subject for a better-objectified understanding).
B. Virtual mentoring  (This does not take place face to face; here you use more of technological tools especially when your mentees are really large).
C. Group mentoring(This can be done with one mentor and several mentees or one mentee and several mentors).
D. Speed mentoring (Series of short, focused conversations about specific questions in which a mentee can rotate to several mentors at a go on a one-to-one basis).

These different styles are peculiar to individuals, so I would advise you go for the one that best suits your learning tendencies and is also relevant to your career development as it pertains to what you want to learn at a particular time.

5: Finally, you should grant yourself the permission to know those areas that are yet to be unexplored upon in your field and start making serious research as it relates to them because we as humans are only stricken by the things we are oblivious to/of.

"Curiosity is the seed for unending growth and development, so don't stop."

If you have started, that is a pointer to the fact that your inward power and Joy just got unleashed. Achievement promotes self-esteem in any human being. Value the experiences that you will gather in the process. This career path I believe was chosen in the place of love and connection, So allow the surge of passion to thrive so you can continue to experience moments of epiphanies in your career journey.
To leave out your greatness in that career path, you must be a strong learner of your field. Make research every day; just keep making improvement no matter how small. Self-achievement will sure exude out in great ways.
