A Review of Make Today Count by John C. Maxwell Reviewed by Dekpen Tamarapreye The author started by asking some very relevant questions about life that each person needs to answer. How would you describe your life? Are you achieving what you desire? Are you accomplishing the things that are important to you? Do you consider yourself a success? How do your prospects for the future look? These are the questions John C. Maxwell wants each and every one of us to answer if we must be successful. Let's all ponder on these questions even as you answer them in your mind and be sincere with yourself. What answers are you getting? In this book, John said that the secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda and if you make few key decisions and manage them well daily, you will succeed. You can never change your life until you change something you do daily. He went further to say that success doesn't happen suddenly in someone's life in one day, neither does

Topic:Gaining Mastery In Writing

Taught by Tamunokuro Precious Dauphin I'm a lawyer and I'm going to anchor today's teaching session. Our topic today is "Gaining Mastery in Writing." In this article, I would be sharing tips that would aid us in attaining  mastery as I am led. First of all; Start Writing: This is the genesis of it all. Start writing. Write to the best of your ability, start with all the flaws and shortcomings, do not despise the days of small beginnings."Every professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit." Be Consistent: In the words of Aristotle, "we are what we repeatedly do." You want to gain mastery? Be consistent until writing becomes your second skin. It no longer feels like a task and at this point, you write effortlessly. Rough edges become smoothened. I'm aware that the exigencies of life might not permit you to be consistent as desired. Then, create a workable writing schedule and stick to it. Make sure you don't lose touch wi

THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON

Image
THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON BY GEORGE S. CLASON. The richest man in Babylon is a book written as far back as 1926. It teaches a lot on financial intelligence. It is simply written and straight to the point. It contains a series of parables, and it is more traditional than contemporary. It is a book gotten from the wisdom of ancient men in Babylon. Some of these men were merchants, some slaves, some just average men in the society. We sometimes have reason to wonder how this would be of any help to the present day investor or to those seeking financial intelligence in this 21st century, giving that things are a lot different nowadays. However, the book clearly points out that the law of wealth (money) can be compared to the law of gravity, both are universal and unchanging. So whatever principle used to make wealth even in the ancient Babylon can still be practiced today. The story depicts the lives of two friends - Bansir and Kobbi respectively, who were craftsmen involved in

Topic:Diction (in terms of writing)

Many a times, we streamline diction to the way a person speaks or uses words while speaking. This is absolutely normal and correct. But today, we'll be looking at the role of diction in writing. Before we get into it properly, let's find out the meaning of diction. From my dictionary, diction means the effectiveness and degree of clarity of word choice, and presentation of said words. This simply means, how clear your choice of words are and how well you present them while speaking. I'm sure you've heard some people speak and you're like, "wow! This person can speak English o!" This just means the person knows the right words to use at every point in time, diction. Now let's bring it down to writing... Think about this; Is it actually possible to wake up one beautiful morning and you decide to write about something without first having ‘words’ on your mind for it? Well, I don't think so! You must first have words that you want to put dow

THE LAWS OF PROSPERITY.

Image
The book has four chapters   *The Laws of prosperity   *The Established covenant and the Established heart  *The Heavenly account   *Walking in prosperity It was originally published in 1974 with about 111 number of pages. The book contains a lot of timeless principles backed up with biblical truth that Copeland applied base on years of experiences and they actually worked for him...So I encourage everyone to read it. God first began dealing with the author about the laws that govern prosperity in 1967 when he became so broke even as a pastor,so this lessons were actually learnt through hard times.   In this book Kenneth Copeland reveals revelation of spiritual laws that govern prosperity,I cannot begin to explain them now although there are some basic laws which he explained such as *giving *tithing *investing in the gospel etc.   The Laws of Prosperity is written to teach you how to apply these laws in your own life so that you can begin to enjoy the great, abundant lif

TOPIC:WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET TIRED OF WRITING.

Taught by: Debola Adekanye:A writer and a blogger.    I believe most of us are writers, yes or no? Maybe we are not all professionals,  but I believe we all are a work in progress. In our present world, it will  be very rare to be in a gathering of learned people and call upon, and find none. They may not all be professionals like I said earlier ,  in short they may all be amateurs,  but no matter what,  there must be a person that writes. Do you agree with me? Now the reason why Many people write differs,  however the end product is always  the same,  it is either to pass across a message or express a thought.    Although many have gone farther to make it as a source of income,  while for some  or few,  writing is just an opening to express their passion,  their truth,  their depth.   Which group do you belong to?   They(those that write not as a source of income) are under no pressure to keep writing,  but they do it regardless; I happen to be one of those few who write just

TOPIC:LEADERSHIP

Taught by: Rachael Tay    The drive for leadership begins from the desire to fulfil purpose. From the beginning, Gen 1:26 God tells man to have dominion over the things he created.Having dominion is fulfilling purpose. And you cannot talk about leadership without talking about purpose.Every man has a purpose in life. So everyman is in capacity to lead.   True leadership begins with you.The first person you lead is yourself.   What is your purpose in life and how are you going about it to glorify God? Leadership is a selfless act. It comes with bearing sacrifices.   How you lead yourself determines the kind of followers you will have.Jesus said in His word that a servant cannot be greater than his master. What you want to see in the people that follow you must be a trait you have in you.    Jesus Christ is a perfect example. Everything He wanted from us He first became it,therefore we can equally say like Paul imitate me as I imitate Christ.   Remember that leadership has to d
