MAINTAINING RELEVANCE

Firstly, let's consider the definition of the word, "relevance." The dictionary defines the word as the state of being relevant which is not being out of date, old fashioned or outmoded.

Having established this, how then can I remain relevant in my chosen field, career, workplace, sphere of influence? We'll be looking at four steps which can guide us on the right path. They are:

1. Stay Within Your God-Ordained Purpose: I am very confident that before this stage, we should have been able to identity our purpose for us to remain relevant in it. Do what you enjoy, do not choose a job you don't like just for the money else you might likely spend all the extra cash trying to relieve the stress of doing what you hate.

2.Self Development: This is very essential in whatsoever field or career path you might have chosen. You have to develop yourself. Take a course, learn a new skill, try something new. Be knowledgeable. Graduating from school is not enough, a willingness to improve your career and finances are paramount if you want to remain relevant.
So, you have to develop yourself.

3. Live For Posterity: We have the time now to invest greatly in what we want our future to look like, what legacy are we building for generations yet unborn? If you believe you deserve to live a certain lifestyle before you have earned to live that way, you will have to borrow money. Rather than trying to impress people, you can start investing for the future.
What are your goals for the next five to ten years? Start making plans now.

4. Be Creative and Set Your Priorities Right: No one can predict the height you can soar, even you might not know until you spread your wings. Do things in a slightly new way. Opportunities abound around, only if you have the will and determination to keep your eyes open.

In conclusion, what should be our priorities?

Priority 1: Develop a Personal Relationship With God: Seek God first. Without God, life has no purpose and without purpose life has no meaning and without meaning life has no relevance.

Priority 2: Keep in Touch With Family: Your job won't take care of you when you are sick, friends and family will. So stay in touch. We are not to neglect our family members because of our career. Always maintain a relationship.

Priority 3: Career: Every man's work, whether it be literature, music, photography, architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself. So choose a career that suits you.

Priority 4: Live a Pure Life: Without holiness, no man can see God.
Finally brethren, Psalm 24: 3-4 should be our guide.
